PLASMACAR MAKES TODAY’S PARENT TOP TOY LIST!
Ride-On Toy Achieves Wow! Status as List Standout
OTTAWA, Nov. 4, 2003 -- Today’s Parent, Canada’s leading magazine for families, named The PlasmaCar to its 2003 Top Toy list. The revolutionary and fun new ride-on toy from Ottawa's PlaSmart, Inc. was one of only six of the 40 toys that made this year’s list selected for “Wow!” status.
The PlasmaCar was one of more than 400 toys that Today’s Parent sent to 55 test families across Canada last spring to try out. “I can't believe they haven't worn the wheels off yet,” said the mother of one test family, after reporting the PlasmaCar was being ridden daily by her three sons, their friends and four adults. The magazine gave the toy “Wow!” status, indicating it was one of the standouts of this year’s winning crop.
With no batteries, gears, pedals or electrical parts, the PlasmaCar reaches speeds up to 10 km/h and can be ridden indoors or out. The toy features an innovative design and simple operation that makes it easy for kids to use.
“The power comes from turning the steering wheel continuously from left to right,” said Tim Kimber, president and CEO of PlaSmart, the toy’s distributor.

“The PlasmaCar can easily go forward and backward, and steering is a snap. The maneuverability is amazing.”
The PlasmaCar harnesses the natural forces of inertia, centrifugal force and friction. The toy is easy to operate all it needs is a driver and a flat surface. Designed for anyone age 3 and up, it can handle riders up to 100 kilograms on a smooth surface and riders up to 55 kilograms on rougher terrain.
The Today’s Parent honour was the second The PlasmaCar has received recently. Earlier this year, Neighbourhood Toy Stores (NETS) of Canada awarded the vehicle a
2003 Gold Star Toy Award, based on its level of fun and reasonable cost.
